CONGRESS AGAIN PLACES POLITICS OVER THE NATIONAL INTEREST

Congress is the problem.  Congress has become an institution that is only concerned with symbolism and refuses to take seriously the role assigned to it.
 
James Madison's notes at the Federal Convention of 1787 leave no doubt that the Founders - including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Gouverneur Morris of Pennsylvania, and dozens of others - envisioned a supreme legislative branch as the heart and soul of America's central government. They assumed that Congress, drawn from all parts of the country, would initiate bills, set budgets, approve wars, provide national leadership. The delegates who gathered at Independence Hall in Philadelphia during summer of 1787 to write the Constitution spent the bulk of their time arguing, cajoling, reasoning, writing, and rewriting the details of this all-important Congress.
 
Congress was to provide national leadership.  This is clearly no longer the role of congress.  Congress has determined it is their role to promote the politics of their political party.  This is exactly what George Washington warned us would happen with the advent of political parties.  Washington said the danger was that the good of the political party would take precedence over the good of the country.
 
That the role of congress has been diminished from national leaders to political party leaders was never made clearer than the contrast we saw this week. 
 
Lawmakers took a vote on Wednesday when the House of Representatives passed legislation to make lynching a federal crime. The House passed HR 35, anti-lynching legislation introduced by Marxist/Progressive (Democrat) Rep. Bobby Rush of Illinois, called the Emmett Till Antilynching Act. Fourteen-year-old Emmett Till was brutally murdered in a racist attack in Mississippi in 1955. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke on the floor ahead of the vote in support of the measure, saying, "Today Congress has an opportunity to acknowledge its responsibility for its historic failure to confront and end the horror of lynching in America."
 
The real statement that should have been made is that congress failed in 1955 to address the horrific act of lynching’s in 1955 when the Marxist/Progressive (Democrat) party supported those who committed these acts.  People, such as Marxist/Progressive (Democrat) Senator Byrd of West Virginia, were prominent members of organizations like the KKK and it was not politically expedient for members of the Marxist/Progressive (Democrat) party to oppose these horrific actions.  65 years later it is? 
 
Meanwhile, Senate Marxist/Progressives  (Democrats) on Monday blocked the bill that would have threatened prison time for doctors who don't try saving the life of infants born alive during failed abortions, putting aside any doubt that Marxist/Progressives  (Democrats) were embracing "infanticide" to appeal to left-wing voters.
 
For political purposes congress failed to act to protect the killing by lynching in 1955.  In 2020, for strictly political purposes, born babies are refused their declared natural right of life.
 
In both instances, member of congress clearly placed politics above the good of the national interest.  Remember, in our Declaration of Independence we declared that it was in the national interest of the new nation that was to come, that we valued the natural right of life that is endowed, by our Creator, upon every individual.  Congress failed the national interest in 1955 and again in 2020 and proved their interest is to advance a political agenda over the national interest.
