ABRIDGING FREEDOM OF SPEECH

Freedom of speech is an essential element to a free society. When James Madison drafted the Bill of Rights that was ratified by Congress to become a part of the United States Constitution, it was his direction in the first amendment that Freedom of Speech is not to be abridged. Yes, we are not to abridge the niceties and everyday common language, but the real protection in the First Amendment was meant to protect the speech with which we disagree.
This would mean that to punish speech that is considered by certain factions of our society to be politically incorrect speech or hate speech would not be in conformity with the letter or intent of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. I do have a constitutional right to discuss the 2020 election by referring to it as a fraudulent election. I do have a constitutional right to discuss the evil of ANTIFA and BLM. I do have the constitutional right to say that I believe all lives matter. This speech is constitutionally protected speech and is not to be abridged.
The First Amendment does not only protect my right to Freedom of Speech, but it also protects the right to Freedom of Speech with those I disagree. That is the purpose of that part of the First Amendment. It protects the speech of all. It protects the rights of those who say the 2020 election was not fraudulent, even though we would certainly ask them to defend that statement. It would protect the right of those to speak in support of ANTIFA and BLM, although we would certainly ask them to explain why they oppose the values upon which our nation was founded. It would protect the right of those to express the statement Black Lives Matter, although we would certainly ask them to explain their racist position or why they would value the live of a person based on the color of their skin and not the content of their character.
Cancel culture is simply another form devised by the anti-American movement to abridge our First Amendment right of Freedom of Speech. Cancel culture has become a tool used by the left, to say radical left is to be redundant, to demonize or ostracize those with whom they disagree and force conformity, which is what the First Amendment was meant to prevent.
The reality is, that those of us who believe the preservation of the Freedom of Speech is essential to the preservation of our free society cannot fall into the trap of “doing to them what they do to us”. We who are Freedom Loving Americans must understand that to protect Freedom of Speech means to protect Freedom of Speech for all, even the left.
There is a movement today to promote a boycott of Coca Cola products because Coca Cola published a statement contrary to the beliefs of many including me. This would-be using cancel culture by those on the right against Coca Cola. It is still abridging Freedom of Speech, that freedom that is critical to preserving our nation as a bastion of individual liberty and freedom. It sounds good, I suppose, and it feels good, I suppose, but it is no less detrimental to Freedom of Speech when we use cancel culture then when the left imposes cancel culture on My Pillow, or some other Freedom Loving enterprise.
This happens to be perhaps the most difficult aspect of being a true Freedom Loving American; that is insisting on the protection of all rights and liberties, even those who wish to destroy our Constitution. I am fortunate in this particular situation because I am not a Coca Cola product consumer anyway, but I am a strong advocate for protecting the right of Coca Cola to exercise their Constitutionally protected right to Freedom of Speech.
