Amidst the recent happenings; learning about the immorality and flaunting of justice within our law enforcement agencies, the demonizing of others for political gain, the greed and corruption of our highest officials to enrich themselves, their families, their associates, racism be it real or perceived, protection of and justification for rioters, looters, and arsonists in the name of social justice, and on and on we could go, we must sit back and reflect and contemplate on who we are as a people, what attributes must free people maintain, and have we retained those attributes?
Here are two people who have told us what attributes a free people must have. Do you agree? "A general dissolution of the principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy.... While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but once they lose their virtue, they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.... If virtue and knowledge are diffused among the people, they will never be enslaved. This will be their great security." Samuel Adams "A state is nothing more than a reflection of its citizens; the more decent the citizens, the more decent the state." Ronald Reagan Samuel Adams and Ronald Reagan are telling us that virtue and decency are critical for a free people. Karl Marx told us that for a people to arrive at the state of total unity and implied happiness, a people must abandon all long-standing principles, all morality, and all religion. Marx is telling us exactly the opposite of what Samuel Adams and Ronald Reagan stated. Both views cannot be correct. Over the last 100 years or so the people of the United States have tended to follow the teachings of Karl Marx more than that of Samuel Adams and Ronald Reagan. We as a people have moved away from our founding principles found in the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution of the United States including the Bill of Rights. For instance we no longer adhere to the principle that government has no control over our natural rights endowed to us by God, the principles of limited government demanded by the United States Constitution, and the demand that government cannot limit our basic rights of religion, speech, and assembly. We have followed the teaching of Marx that states that morality has no basis other than what each individual would determine is right for them. If a mother believes it is moral to murder her unborn baby because that baby would be an inconvenience, that is fine. Any and all sexual pornography and acts are sanctioned to be moral including pedophilia. Encouraging and endorsing acts of arson, destruction, looting, and physical harm to another including death in the name of social justice is hailed as upstanding citizenship. We have followed the teaching of Marx in not only abandoning religion but claiming it is right and proper to demonize and destroy those who would proclaim a belief in a teaching that there is good and bad and right and wrong. The virtue and decency advocated by Samuel Adams and Ronald Reagan have become not only politically incorrect, but are now being outlawed and shamed. What we must reflect upon and contemplate is, has following the direction of Karl Marx made us a better people, a more tolerant people, a more neighborly people, a people we would want others to emulate, a people we would want our children and our grandchildren to be. Your conclusion will dictate to you if you believe Samuel Adams and Ronald Reagan have the best answer for our nation or if we should continue down the road of Karl Marx.
