We hear the outrage of the right leaning pundits and reporters when the left does one thing one day and criticizes the very same action by the right the next day. We call this a double standard. The most intriguing aspect to this scenario is that those on the right would be surprised. The only plausible explanation is that the right leaning pundits and reporters have not taken the time to understand the animal with which they are dealing.
The left leaning people or collectivists (Marxists, communists, socialists, progressives, Democrats, - all virtually the same) not only live by the double standard, they take pride in their application of such. Perhaps the most famous collectivist, Comrade Lenin stated: “There are no morals in politics in politics, there is only experience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel.” “To rely on conviction, devotion, and other excellent spiritual qualities, that is not to be taken seriously in politics.” “There are no absolute rules of conduct, either in peace or war. Everything depends on circumstances.” And we have the maxim of the collectivist: “The ends always justify the means.” What we learn when we study the collectivist is that the one unchanging part of their belief is the end. That all should be totally conforming and totally equal even in poverty and misery, except the few who are determining the choices for the many, is the most fair and just society and should be desired by all. This society of total control over the many must be achieved for the good of all and any means to arrive at that end is justified, necessary, and ultimately best for all. The double standard is the only standard the collectivist has while stiving to achieve their ends. The right leaning pundits and reporters should be surprised when the collectivist holds to a single standard or a standard based on morality, conviction, or devotion. This would be newsworthy. It is not only very rare, but goes against the teachings of the collectivists.
