President Trump fired General Mattis as Secretary of Defense. Now we know why. General Mattis allowed political situations to cloud his judgement. We have learned that General Mattis was not as concerned with the facts as he saw them but how they would affect the political future. One thing a General should never do is allow the political situation to affect his tactical decisions.
General Mattis says he wouldn't have blasted Joe Biden in his book if he knew the former VP would run for president. Mattis told CBS' "Face the Nation" that he would not have criticized the former VP in his newly released book if he had known that Biden would actually run for president. In the book, Mattis blasted Biden and former President Barack Obama over what he referred to as faulty leadership that exacerbated ISIS' effect in Iraq. During the interview, CBS News host Margaret Brennan pointed out, "You wrote, '[Biden] exuded the confidence of a man whose mind was made up, perhaps even indifferent to considering the consequences were he judging the situation incorrectly,'" regarding the Obama administration's decision to leave Iraq. "Well," Mattis responded, "I was writing a history book at that point, Margaret, because I started writing this book in 2013. Had I known the former vice president was going to run for office, I assure you I would not have probably been that forthcoming." HOW WRONG COULD MATTIS BE. Either he was not being forthcoming when he wrote the book, or he is not forthcoming now. The details of history are not altered by the current events of today. The details of history affect the event of today. If Mattis lied when he wrote the book, then his faulty assessment would play a role in a future event. If Mattis was being honest when he wrote the book, then the public is entitled to know his true assessment because it should play a role in the events of today. Under either scenario, what we have learned is that Mattis is not the honest and straight forward individual we were led to believe, but a wishy-washy individual who is apparently willing to say anything depending on the current political circumstances. This is called adhering to the Marxist axiom of “the ends always justify the means”; say whatever will achieve your desired goals regardless of what your honest evaluation was at the time. THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP for recognizing that Mattis is indeed a phony and nothing more than a political pawn. This is not the character a Secretary of Defense should have.
