People have been pushing for term limits on members of congress. This has been tried in different states including California. Term limits in California have been a failure. Voters should be free to vote for the person they believe best represents them. This is the problem; voters do not know if the person for whom they voted does or does not represent them.
We hear what the person said they support and what they do not support. However, the way congress works is the same way many states legislatures work, and that is a bill is passed with a misleading name and with many different issues in the bill. The individual who voted for the bill with the misleading name also voted for many different policies. When the Republican party won control of the House of Representatives, they promised that they would insist on having different bills for each of the different parts of the government for funding purposes. So far, they have failed to produce. The government is still operating on continuing resolutions. The people do not know what their representative supports or opposes when they vote for a CR because there are typically many issues addressed in the CR. This is true in most legislation today. The illegitimate Biden regime is trying to combine funding for Ukraine, Israel, and border policy in one bill. This approach is what has become a normal approach. The public must insist that this approach be abandoned and that only single-issue bills be used. Any funding for Ukraine should be in a single-issue bill so the people know if their representative supported or opposed funding for Ukraine. The same should be true for Israel and for the border. The bills with multiple issues protect the representatives from declaring what they support and what they oppose. Single-issue bills will solve the term limit issue. Each House member will have a two-year term and each Senator will have a six-year term as provided in the Constitution. At each election, people will have a much more definitive idea as to whether that individual is representing them. The individual should be able to run for office and serve if elected. A single-issue bill should be much shorter and thus be able to be read by all. It would be better understood by all, and most importantly, the people would know what their representative supports and opposes.
