The pendulum is always swinging. 250 years ago, the pendulum was swinging toward freedom. Today the pendulum is swinging toward tyranny. The Canadian pendulum is this very day in the tyranny zone. The United States pendulum is getting closer and closer to the tyranny zone.
Political discourse throughout history has always centered on freedom or tyranny. This has been the argument since the beginning of time. Tyranny has been predominant. Freedom did not become a major consideration until the 17th century. John Locke had written about the critical difference between freedom and tyranny. This difference had been addressed by other people like Hobbs and Aquinas, but it was primarily the writings of Locke that led the brave freedom fighters in the American colonies to take hold and form a government based on the truths set forth by Locke. Locke emphasized that rights and liberties such as life, speech, assembly, private property, and freedom to worship God, were rights given to each individual by God. The only role government could have regarding rights and liberties would be to protect those rights and liberties. Any government control over these rights and liberties would swing the pendulum toward tyranny. When we strive to understand the critical differences between freedom and tyranny, we must understand which forces support freedom and which support tyranny. We learn that republic supports freedom and democracy supports tyranny. Individualism supports freedom and collectivism supports tyranny. Limited government supports freedom and big government supports tyranny. Independence supports freedom and conformity supports tyranny. Education supports freedom and indoctrination supports tyranny. Freedom of choice supports freedom and government dictates and mandates support tyranny. People are created as individuals and as such have the capacity, whether exercised or not, to make choices. We as individuals can choose to live under freedom or live under tyranny. A tyrant is incapable of taking our God given freedoms from us. Tyrants impose tyranny on a people because the people willing surrender their rights and liberties to government, not to protect those rights and liberties, but to have power to control those rights and liberties. We are seeing before our very eyes how tyrants gain power. This is happening in Canada. Canada is today a dictatorship. Tyranny became reality when certain elements of the Canadian population placed tyranny over freedom. The Ottawa police, the tow truck drivers, and the passive population of Ottawa were critical in the government’s imposition of tyranny. If the individual Ottawa police ooficer had refused to obey the orders of the tyrant, if the tow truck drivers had refused to tow the trucks, if the passive citizens of Ottawa had joined the freedom fighters in the street, if the reporters of the Canadian press had reported the stories, if the individuals in the banks had refused to cooperate with the government, the tyrannical forces in Canada would not have been able to prevail. Canada today would be dealing with a failed government and new elections would be underway. Let this be a lesson to Americans. If you are a member of any police force, including the Washington D.C. police, stand for freedom, refuse to assist those desiring tyranny and do not enforce any unconstitutional or anti-freedom orders. If you are a member of the National Guard called into D.C., refuse to follow any unconstitutional or anti-freedom orders. If you are a tow truck driver, refuse to tow any vehicle that is a part of the anti-tyranny movement. If you are a freedom loving citizen available to participate in any freedom marches, exercise that right. If we who understand that rights and liberties come from God, that these rights and liberties can only be surrendered, we have a responsibility to God, to ourselves, and to our fellow citizens to not surrender what God has given us. John Adams in a letter to Abigale: “But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrender their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the Government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it.” And in the same letter Adams explains: “You ask if every Member feels for Us? Every Member says he does—and most of them really do. But most of them feel more for themselves. In every Society of Men, in every Clubb, I ever yet saw, you find some who are timid, their Fears hurry them away upon every Alarm—some who are selfish and avaricious, on whose callous Hearts nothing but Interest and Money can make Impression. There are some Persons in New York and Philadelphia, to whom a ship is dearer than a city, and a few Barrells of flower, than a thousand Lives—other Mens Lives I mean.” Every Freedom Loving American must ask themselves if they mean what they say when they say they favor freedom over tyranny. What do you truly favor????
