Our education system has become, as we all know, an indoctrination system. Indoctrination is telling people what to think and not teaching people how to think and then encouraging them to think for themselves. In all aspects of education and beyond, the exposure to all thinking is now restricted and often eliminated. Those who would express a thought or an opinion that is contrary to what is thought of as proper and correct is ostracized and demonized. This is mostly true today in the factions known as progressive, but it also exists in some areas of the conservative sector.
The modern-day press, which is composed of more and more the electronic press, has fallen into this same arena. We have what is called a liberal or progressive press and a conservative press. “News” programs have become opinion programs. Any deviation from group thought is ridiculed and the original thinker ostracized and demonized. Marx said that society must become a classless society. He said that to achieve this state, all must conform in thought, and all must be equal politically, socially, and economically. Deviation from the dictates of the Marxist philosophy would not be tolerated. This is the essence of collectivism where only what is determined to be the “greater good” is tolerated. Individualism requires tolerance and encouragement of individuals to challenge the status quo. Individualism cannot exist without extremes on both sides of the spectrum. Individualism requires an education system that teaches people how to think and introduces all areas of thought to students. Individualism requires a press that investigates and challenges, that always asks why. A society where the government is the sovereign, and the people are the servants requires collectivism. A society where the government is the servant, and the people are the sovereign requires individualism. Our nation was founded on the principles of individualism where the government would be the servant and the people would be the sovereign. The government would be limited and the rule that the government that governs least governs best would always prevail. However, for this to exist it requires a population who thinks like Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson said, “I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever, in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else, where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent. If I could not go to heaven but with a party, I would not go there at all.” We must all think for ourselves. We must change our ways. Our education must be transformed from a system of indoctrination to a system of education. It is fine to have opinion programs and websites, but we must also insist on and support programs and websites that report the news as objectively as possible. Mostly, we the people must think for ourselves. Yes, that means that you will have thoughts different from those in your party. That is not only okay, but it is good. Open and honest discussions are needed and required if we are to be a free nation. If we want to be a Marxist totalitarian state, simply conform to the party line.
