CELEBRATE THE HOPE CHRISTMAS BRINGS

We celebrate the birth of Christ on December 25th. That Jesus was not born on that specific date should not lessen the hope we have in Christ. It is the story of Christmas, that God took upon his self, humanity, with the sole purpose of dying as a sacrifice for us and then being raised from death to give us eternal life.
I hear people talking about the evil times in which we live. Evil times have been prevalent on Earth from the day that Satan deceived Eve and humanity became sin. The Virgin Birth of Christ was necessary, because Jesus took upon himself humanity but without the sin nature of man. Both Mary and Joseph were sinners, as we all are, but Jesus was not because of the Virgin Birth. Jesus was and is always God, but also became man.
The birth of Jesus is just a part of our hope. It is easy for man to celebrate the birth of a baby. However, without Easter, without the death of Jesus on the cross, the shedding of his blood and without his resurrection, the celebration of Christmas is only about Santa Claus and is without hope.
On Christmas, it is customary to read the Christmas story in Mathew and Luke. It is even customary to read the prophecy of his birth in books of the Old Testament including Isaiah and Malachi. I would suggest celebrating the “true meaning of Christmas,” that you also read and ponder John 3: 16 and 17 and Isaiah 53: 6 and 7, for this is the “true meaning” of Christmas.
Mankind has lived in troubled times because of rebellion and sin since Genesis 3: 6. The birth of Christ was the fulfillment of the promised birth of the Messiah. This was critical for the prophecy of the Cross. This hope overcomes the lie and deception of Satan and the rebellion and sin of man in Genesis 3: 6. This is why we celebrate Christmas which is a time of hope for all through Jesus Christ.
